There was a loud noise that woke me up from my nap. After the noise my people were all acting strange. They were frantically running around our home, grabbing a bunch of different things, and yelling at each other.
I did not like the way my people were acting one bit. I was very scared, tail stuck between my legs as I tried to lay back down and go to sleep. I thought that if I closed my eyes for long enough that when I opened them again everything would be okay again. I was wrong.
After closing my eyes for the second time my life changed, and will never be the same again. The sound that I heard from earlier happened again, but this time it was much louder. I opened my eyes the second I heard it, but it was too late. I was sent flying back and hit my head, which made me go to sleep again. By the time I woke up I was outside somewhere.
I knew where I was, but it all looked different. My home was all a giant pile, and my people were nowhere to be found. I tried to bark loudly for them to hear me, but whenever I barked nothing but a little whimper came out. I tried to get up and run to where I thought they would be but my left front paw was bleeding and hard to walk on. I soon realized that this was something that my people also had to go through, and that I would have to figure this out by myself.
I was able to limp over to a tree so I could at least have a little bit of protection. Besides my front left paw and my head I wasn’t hurt, but I was very hungry. I hoped my people would remember that they forgot me, but if they didn’t I would have to learn to survive on my own, and the first steps in that were finding food and water.
