The famous song by the Proclaimers, “500 miles” states “I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more just to be the man who walks 1000 miles to fall down at your door (DA DA DA DA)”.  While singing the song in my head for the 1000th time it made me think who I would walk 1,000 miles for, and where it would take me.

The obvious answer is loved ones like family members, lifelong friends, and life partners. The first people who came to mind when thinking of who I would walk for is my immediate family. However, my family and I still all live together, so I wouldn’t be walking that far. The next people I thought of was my extended family who all live decently far from me, but still would not be 1,000 miles.

After realizing that if I were to walk to even my farthest family member that I would still not have walked 1,000 miles so I decided to walk them for myself, and to walk to somewhere that I have always wanted to go.

Miami has always been a dream of mine to travel to, whether it’s the beaches, the sports teams, or the nightlife I think Miami would be one of the coolest places to visit in the United States. The walk from my house t Miami is 1050 miles, which would take the average person about two weeks, assuming you would walk all day every day. I consider myself to walk at a slower than average pace so I could see it taking me anywhere from 15-20 days to make this walk. During this long period of time I would be able to plan the best vacation ever in Miami.
